IgniteBoulder 5

If you had 5 minutes on stage, what would you talk about?  If you haven’t seen Ignite yet, it’s a worldwide movement coming soon to your home town.  The idea is simple—people submit an idea of what they want to talk about, the community votes on what they want to hear, speakers are picked.  The key to a good presentation is to provide some sort of useful information with a twist.  For example, “How I hacked chocolate”.
The vibe at an Ignite event is good, and the community is tight. Seems like just about everyone gets a turn to present sooner or later, and heckling is welcome as long as it’s positive.

There are currently Ignite events happening in Seattle
Here’s the blurb from IgniteBoulder’s website:

Ignite is a night of presentations on a variety of topics, with a twist. Each presentation has 20 slides, that automatically advance after 15 seconds. It is a worldwide movement, and Boulder is hosting our fifth July 2nd at 6pm.

Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. You can view all the upcoming Ignite Events as they’re happening across the country and the world.  Dublin, Baltimore, Raleigh and Boise are just a few of the cities with upcoming events.  Check it out, it’s a good time waiting to happen. Andrew Hyde is the orchestrator of Ignite Boulder. Follow along live at http://wwwigniteboulder.com/live.

So, you going there tonite? (or are you there?)

Funny thing you mentioned Ignite today because I just stumbled upon this over at Tim O'Reiley's blog: Scott Berkun on Why You Should Speak

It really does sound like a new way to liberate people to become more of the information producers instead of consumers. And you can download them as iTunes… which is cool.

Anyone know someone who has done an ignite presentation?

Andy, I'm giving a talk about Bacon & Timetravel tonight. You can watch live by going to igniteboulder.com/live. Not sure what time it'll be on over in Germany where you are, but there are others happening around the world. Maybe near you! They also need organizers, perhaps there's an opportunity for you?

Cool!

I will definitly look into that way over here! Bacon and Timetravel (one theme with both or two different themes?) — 6 pm NY time is midnight here… so regardless of what time frame Boulder is on, I am gonna be sleeping when it happens!

*she scratches her head* Bacon and Timetravel… what on earth are you gonna talk about? MUST be passion. MUST.

Have a blast!
